Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

Angel Fox

My name is Angel Fox. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor licensed in the State of North Carolina. I am currently in the process of obtaining my Licensure in FL and VA as well.

My professional background began in education. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Elon University in 2000 and worked as an Elementary School teacher for 21 years. I received my master's degree from Liberty University in 2022 in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am currently a PhD student at Liberty University working toward a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision.

I have a heart for helping the hurting on their journey to healing psychologically and spiritually. Women and children are populations near and dear to my heart. I am familiar with working with clients who have anxiety, depression, experienced divorce, grief, loss, stress, oncology, and trauma.

I am versed in behavioral therapy techniques and mindfulness approaches. I work from a collaborative and strengths-based approach using Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness techniques.

SFT helps clients discover their existing strengths, skills, strategies, and ideas to help them move forward into the future learning how to do things differently.

CBT helps clients learn effective strategies and ways of coping with a wide range of problems. This process helps clients discover distorted or faulty thinking. CBT helps clients change their faulty thinking and negative thought patterns.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) builds on the principles of CBT and incorporates and teaches clients mindful meditation, how to be present in the moment with thoughts and feelings and recognize thoughts and feelings preceding behaviors. This is very effective for anxiety, depression, stress, low moods, and those clients struggling with happiness.

Furthermore, as a Christian, I believe in treating the whole patient. Spiritual health is very important. However, I will only incorporate Christian or Spiritual counseling for anyone who wishes to incorporate their faith into counseling.
